  • What can a Personal Care Worker (PCW) help me with?

    A PCW may help you the following, but not limited to; with your activities of daily living, light house work, health related tasks, and preparing meals.

  • How do I apply for services?

    You must qualify for Medicaid and an assessment of your needs will be conducted by either your assigned Case Manager, County Nurse, or MCO Nurse. Once assessment is completed and if you choose our agency, we will then be contacted by the third-party health professional with a copy of your assessment and service agreement. We will then contact you directly and begin the enrollment process to our agency.

  • How are my hours determined?

    The numbers of hours you are approved for will be determined by your assessment. Our agency will receive an authorization for the hours determined.

  • Can my family members of friend be my PCW?

    Yes. It is your decision to choose a relative or friend that you trust and feel comfortable with to provide you with home care services. BLHHC, Inc. will honor your request if you have a PCW chosen beforehand. If you don't have PCW, BLHHC Inc. will help find a PCW for you . If a Client is under 18 years old, parents cannot be a PCW, and Spouses legally Married by the State are not qualified to be PCA’s as well.

  • What if my PCW is under 18 years old? Can they still qualify to be my PCA?

    Yes, individuals who are under 18 years old can still be your PCA. During their application process, they will need to submit additional paperwork. Supervision of PCA’s under 18 by a qualified professional (QP) must occur every 60 days until they turn 18.

  • What qualifications is needed for one to be a PCW?

    1. Pass a background study.

    2. Pass a standardized training and test. This can be found on our employee resources page, with the button “PCA/CFSS”. Training and study materials can also be found on the website.

    3. Be enrolled with DHS and affiliated with our Agency.

    4. PCA’s must be able to do the tasks in your care plan and be able to communicate with you and your provider.

  • Do you provide training for PCAs?

    Yes, training is provided by BLHHC Inc. once your PCA has passed: background study, passed the standardized test through MN DHS, and completed all necessary onboarding forms from BLHHC, Inc. Once all is collected, we will call your PCA and schedule a time for them to come and complete the training.

  • Do I have to pay out of pocket or will services be covered by my Insurance

    In most cases, your insurance or the State's MA and MCO will pay for your services. If you do not have insurance or Medicaid Assistance, you can apply at your County Health and Human Services Department. You can find assistance in applying for State Insurance on our Client Information tab. Please make sure to choose the correct county you reside in. If you do not know the county you reside in, we will be happy to help you find that you by giving us a call or via email.

  • Do you accept private pay?

    Yes, we accept private pay.

  • How do I become an employee/caregiver?

    If you are interested in being an employee/caregiver for BLHHC, Inc., please contact us and we will provide you with more information.

  • What qualifications do I need to become a caregiver?

    1. Pass a background study.

    4. Must be able to do the tasks according to client’s care plan.

  • Do you provide trainings to be a caregiver?

    Yes! We provide training for you once onboarding has been completed and background study is cleared.

  • Can I refer loved ones to your agency?

    Yes. If you believe a loved one qualifies for any of our services, please feel free to contact us. If they already have a case manager, please have them reach out to us. We will be glad to help assist them in the process.

  • Can I be an employee/caregiver for my child and/or parent?

    Yes, as long as the client is over 18 years old.

  • Can I work overtime?

    Overtime must be authorized by BLHHC Inc. If overtime is worked and not authorized by BLHHC, Inc. you will not be paid for it.

  • Is there a cap on how many hours I can work?

    Yes, BLHHC Inc. caps at 80 hours.

  • When do I get paid?

    We pay every two weeks according to our payroll calendar.
